Students in this popular class from February will look at Hokusai’s The Wave and other works from the body of work, “36 views of Mount Fuji”. After discussing basic composition techniques, students will create their own painting in a Plein Aire (outdoor) setting while visualizing the local Jemez Mountains from a location near Fuller Lodge Art Center. If weather prevents an outdoor session, students will use one of the studios and create their works from a series of photos they provide of their own favorite mountain views or using one provided by the teacher.
This class is perfect for beginners looking to play with watercolor techniques and learn a bit about basic composition. Time permitting, discussions of more intermediate techniques and mediums will take place.
Materials:
Watercolor sheets or blocks in varying sizes, at least 1 in 8×10 or 11×14 for each evening. These are available locally at Village Arts on DP road, or at online vendors.
Students may bring their own paints and brushes or have them provided by the studio.
This class has a 15$ per student prep and materials fee due to the teacher at the time of the first session.
