DOVER QUARTET
Description
The Dover Quartet—dubbed “the young American string quartet of the moment” by The New Yorker—plays two affecting works: Mozart’s Dissonance String Quartet, whose unusual introduction yields the work’s nickname, and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 4 in D Major, Op. 83, filled with complexities and contradictions that reflect the composer’s anguish over the atrocities of World War II and living under Stalin’s regime.
