HAOCHEN ZHANG PIANO RECITAL
Description
For this single-work program, Haochen Zhang, who won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at the age of 19, plays the stunningly difficult Transcendental Études by Liszt—one of history’s greatest piano virtuosos. In a testament to the rarefied talent this work demands, Schumann, another well-known pianist, described the études as “studies in a storm and dread for, at the most, ten or twelve players in the world.”
