Is your child fascinated with all things space-related? Would they love to explore the solar system, practice astronaut skills, learn about telescopes, and more?! This summer, PEEC is offering a new day camp for kids entering grades 4-7 that combines hands-on projects, planetarium time, and outdoor exploration. The group will follow NASA’s “How to Train Like An Astronaut” program, make a scale solar system model spread out through the canyons around the nature center, learn the basics of using a telescope, experiment with air-propelled rockets, and talk with real space scientists. Campers should be prepared to spend much of the day outside, but this camp will also include some time indoors in the planetarium.
This day camp meets daily Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM – 4 PM. Participants must be entering grades 4, 5, 6, or 7 in fall 2022. This camp is limited to 15 participants and registration will open at 9 AM on Wednesday, March 9.
Addressing COVID-19: PEEC staff continues using recommendations from the New Mexico Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Camp Association, Association for Nature Center Administrators, and many other organizations to develop COVID-Safe practices for our programs. During registration, you will be asked to read and agree to a waiver statement. This includes details about participant requirements, such as behavior and other expectations, drop-off and pick-up procedures, and more. Please read the waiver carefully.
